There sure is a lot of action packed into these five panels and some of the expression details get lost in the normal 900 pixel wide size, so for those readers who are curious, I added an extra treat of the final panel art close-up and the original pencil art for panel two. As you might notice the heavy influence of my background in cartoon animation, I like to work with the characters on top of the background layouts.

It’s interesting that you noticed Agile’s comment in the last panel, it is a good example of how the Pudding character’s have personalities of their own. When I first started, I felt like I had to decide each character’s reactions to each situation, but now they just react and I’m just responsible for reporting. In this case Agile goes from total panic to casual observation which is characteristic of his easily distracted personality. If he were in the midst of a forest fire he would probably stop running and take time to admire the pretty colors of the flames.
Seems like everything is still up in the air for our stalwart adventurers! Love these wonderful action drawings, J.P.!

One of my goals over the past 6 month’s or so has been to focus on capturing more slapstick action in the comic, both in terms of facial expressions and pose gestures. It’s an on going process of experimentation but I’m excited that my efforts are beginning to pay off. Much appreciated feedback.

Looks like there might be teeth, hair and eyeballs all over the place. Wait…none of them have hair and some of them don’t have teeth. Anyway you look at it though it looks like a mess.
